| I don't do a lot of payroll but have a few of my monthly clients that I do payroll for. My Question is for anyone that uses QB for year-end payroll. Will the IRS accept the W-3 and W-2 Copy A on regular paper or do you have to order the forms.
Thanks for your imput. | |

| Yes, they will now. The Uni-form is the best, it is perfed for the employee, and pert near as cheap as regular paper. | |

| You can purchase the laser forms at Office Depot, etc. I always use these for those clients that need W-2's. Plain paper? It still would have to be red forms....the blank forms you can purchase.... | |

| You don't have to order forms. QB payroll will print W3 and employee W2s (all copies). IRS will accept the forms printed by QB payroll. I have done this for several years now without any problems. | |

| So then...if you print out of QB the Forms don't for the Goverment don't have to be on red. Just lazer printed on white paper? | |

| Red is not required on W2 & W3 but is still required for 1099's. The Quick Books produced forms are perfectly fine. | |

| You might want to consider filing the returns on the SSA website. I'm pretty sure it's free. | |

| Hi,
Get an RA PIN, and e-file them....sorry to be a be-otch...BUT..... Had a client get an $11K Cival Penalty because the Sante Fe PO is horrible, and lost my clients' W-2/3, 3 years ago with his former CPA... I am now truly afraid of sending anything via USPS...

| OH, Correction, ...get an SSA PIN, and e-file the W-2/3 via the SSA BSO.....
Make sure you use your name EXACTLY as it is on your SSN card.... Mike | |

| The answer given by Bbowers about red/black is correct. I still talk to other accountants who are amazed when they learn red is no longer mandatory for W2s. | |
