I thought this through before posting - looking for agreement or disagreement with my conclusion.

Situation is a 58 year old daughter who lives with her mother. Mother pays over half of daughter's support. Daughter's income is $3,280 from interest and dividends.

1. I think it is clear that the daughter is not a "qualifying child" because of the age test

An older child evidently an qualify as a "Qualifyting relative" but this daughter would not due to the gross income test.

Since the mother has no "qualifying person" living with her, the mother cannot claim head of household.

Am I missing anything?

I don't think so. Not a qualifying child or relative and no HOH. Just barely missed the income limitation for qualifying relative.

Check to see if the daughter is totally and permanently disable, in which case she would satisfy the age test for QC purposes.

She does not qualify as "totally and permanently disabled". I saw that exception to the age test.
