| Client with MS donated 2 electronic wheel chairs to a nursing home and was given a letter thanking him for his gifts valued at $5,000. Is there any chance this will be a deductible donation, the nursing home is operated for profit................. :-( | |

| The deduction can be taken only for donation to a non profit organization. They should be classified as non profit. | |

| Specifically, the organization should be a 170(c) organization. Most 170(c) organizations are also 501(c)(3) organizations. In addition, most 170(c) organizations are listed in Pub 78. You can go online to verify the 170(c) status of this nursing home. | |
