| Does anyone still run on windows 2000 and started using Proseries 2008? After reviewing the min. req. windows 2000 is not supported. Really don't want to upgrade my OP system just for the tax software. Thoughts? Experience?
thanks

| If it hasn't already happened, there will come a time that MS will no longer provide support, etc for 2000. I recommend an upgrade to XP PRO nothing more current. It is a very stable program and works with all ProSeries back to 1995 (in the event that you do amended or compliance work).taxea

| Vista will not support the old years either...

| How old is your computer that is still running Win2000? Probably time to get a new one. (But I would go with XP rather than Vista at this point.)

| Better hurry too. I heard talk a while back that XP was going to get shelved as well.

| thanks to all, my pc like all others is somewhere between operating and failure, plenty of regular backups. but the question is still out there if anyone uses 2000 for 2008 proseries? which by the responses no one rides that Dinosaur

| Can't answer the original question, but Rgtaxservice: XP will still be available for desktop installations through at least 7/31.

| I can't give you a personal experience answer since I, like the other posters, swear by Windows XP Pro. You've undoubtedly already discovered that you won't get a straight answer from Intuit except that Intuit states it does not support Windows 2000 or Vista 64. This is Intuit speak for, if it doesn't work, don't call us. However, my guess would be that if your system worked ok with ProSeries 2007 then it will very probably work with ProSeries 2008. Unless someone comes along who is using Windows 2000 and ProSeries 2008 and sees your post, you're probably going to have to go with good old fashioned trial-and-error. I agree with those posts above urging you to get Win XP while the getting is good, and it may already be too late for that. But if you are able to string Windows 2000 out for another year, then maybe by next year all the Win XP, Vista 32 and Vista 64 troubles will have settled down. Maybe.
