I haven't been able to e-file for a couple of hours. I use Lacerte. Is anyone else having problems trying to e-file today.

Tax season has been too long for me to waiting around to efile a couple of returns. I'm sick of this office and need to get out of here. I just keep hitting the button hoping the stupid returns will go through.

I'm getting an error code from lacert e-file saying I don't have 128 bit encryption. Started about 8:00 am MT. Anyone else getting this error message?

JCPA (talk|edits) said:

Yep, that's the error I'm getting. Not had that error before though.

I had filed a batch of extension 10 minutes prior with no problems. Just started happening. Anyone get word from Lacerte about what was happening?

We use lacerte and are having the same problem. Sometimes one or two will go through, sometime none. Do they know when we can hope for better?

I have been having trouble efiling since last night. I am not happy with Lacerte these days! I have also had several returns not make the drain times this year and I never had that problem in the past. It is frustrating. I used to love this software! I will probably be switching next year after 10 years with them. I just can't rely on them anymore!

Trouble all over: Proseries is going at a crawl and just said to try later.

I have had the same problem but after a couple of trys they seem to be going through.

What I have found you have to do is : 1)If the "128bit encry. ........" blabla error msg come up is -select the client that you wanted to efile. 2) go to the efile tab at top of screen 3)select e-file support tools 4) select remove efile from quere 5) try to efile again.

Repeat this process and after a couple of times it will go through. I noticed that this was a problem around the 3/15/06 corp deadline as well . It may be because Intuit serve is just being bombarded with efiles from proseries , lacerte and tt.

Good luck

Count me in with you guys...been trying for 2 hours to get a couple extensions out.

Guess I'll clean my office, since I haven't seen my desk for 2 months.

I've been at the office waiting and it's now 10pm. To say I'm upset is an understatement, someone will get an earfull tomorrow. Looks like I might just print out the entensions and mail them in but I have 5 efiles that have to go through. I did not go through this last year and for what we pay for Lacerte this is CRAZY. I'm taking the laptop home and I'll keep trying but I should have been gone hours ago.

Wonder whether we were dumped in with the TT and TT online folks.

The 128 bit encryption error message is likely bogus. The Lacerte SW appears to generate this when their server "times out."

"we're busy" is so lame (especially when address to professional preparers). "Don't wait 'til the last minute" which suggests that this fiasco is our fault (not their fault) is not just lame; it's insulting.

Something has to happen.

IRS won't penalize TurboTax users affected by server glitch

what about Lacerte users, they aren't listed?

Jokadah (talk|edits) said:

The message at Lacerte says that we should keep transmitting and that returns will be accepted as timely returns. Mine all finally went through about 3:00 am PST. Obviously, there are still alot that have not gone through. What a cluster.

IRS says they will allow E filed extensions/returns up to April 19th 11:59pm for ALL that had a problem.

The IRS press release does *not* say (in so many words) that extensions are OK. It merely says penalties will not be imposed on returns. There are other timing consequences on the extension side (e.g., SEP contributions, validity of piggyback state extensions). Let's hope that extensions are OK, but we're not sure yet.

Checked my e-mail when I got back to work today. I can't seem to find the apology from Intuit there. Checked their website, it's not there either. Can one of you please paste the link onto this thread? I would sure like to read it.
