Has anyone used the ProSeries Document Managemt System(DMS) product?

If so, what type of feedback can you provide? Is DMS worth the money and time? I checked out the website video on DMS , it seems like a decent tool. If you have DMS installed, is there a special scanner type that works well with the product? Any information on this subject would be helpful. Also, to the discussion forum, what are your thoughts on going to a paperless format for historical files.

You know, Tim, this is the kind of help here that is so valuable. We all know that there are threads out there to refer to, but don't have the time or inclination to find them! Or can't if we do try sometimes...Please keep doing this. It saves a lot of repetition.

Thank you so much for your comments! I really do appreciate them.

Although I will continue to help where I can, I know I can't keep up with all of the discussions. Everyone has been great at jumping in on the discussions, but no one is really jumping in on building TaxAlmanac to its true potential yet, and I'm not sure if there is just no interest, or if it's because people just don't know what to do yet.

Here's is how I envision the community helping:

  1. You see a question here, and realize that there is no page (article) on this topic yet.
  2. You select the Start new Article link in the navigation panel on the left side of the page.
  3. You type in the subject as the name of the new page.
  4. You enter some basic information, for example "Document Management System is a program offered by Intuit which allows users to go paperless. For more information, see..."
  5. Others see that page and can add to it. If you see a new discussion regarding a topic, just point people to the page instead of trying to find past discussions.
  6. Add a list of discussions about the topic to the article page so they can be found easier.

In this way, we work as a group to build a site that will really be powerful! Pages can be linked together, categorized, and added to the topical indexes. Articles can link to discussions, and discussions can link to articles. The discussions are only a piece of this site. Does anyone want to try this out? I'd be happy to work with you!

If people start to create pages for various subjects, I would be more than happy to find and link in past discussions about those topics!
