Have client hand me w-2 from his Nevada employer. He worked all year in Calif. The w-2 has Nev for the state and of course no withholding. I told client he needs to tell employer to w/h calif taxes. Employer state he is in Nv and wont or cant. Any input would be appreciated

Employer has no obligation to do so usually. Best is that they don't withhold state tax at all and your guy makes estimates to CA. That at least avoids double filing.

Actually, if the client worked in CA for the NV employer, then the NV employer has an obligation to withhold for CA.
