| I am leaning towards yes, depending on the client.
If the client comes to me with a quickbooks file I can plug and play, no or a reduced fee. If they come to me with a mess, I will definitely charge it. Examples include, lots of employees, lots of vendor setup, lots of customer setup, etc. If you charge one, how much do you charge? I am leaning towards $75. Thanks, Michael | |

| Charge for your time on bookkeeping at a reasonable rate. Charge per form on the tax return work. | |

| Some won't blink. Others won't pay it. Use it as a negotiating tool. | |

| 80-90% of the time, I charge $150 fee to "set up your books properly and install a correct chart of accounts". If transferring from another accountant or bookkeeper, depending on rates they've paid previously, it can potentially be an item for negotiation. But most times it's definitely needed, in light of time spent fixing prior problems, clean up, back work, organizing initial records, etc. | |
