In an IRS audit the agent proposed a new accounting method. In a subsequent audit the next agent is proposing a different method. Are we bound by the method the first agent suggested a few years ago.

Does the client still qualify for the first method of accounting? Perhaps they have reached some magic plateau that requires them to change to the second method.

Why are you allowing this? An accounting method is managements choice, as long as it is legal, what's the issue?

The one you are using is either permitted or it is not. What are the auditor's concerns?
