I have a taxpayer whose mortgage debt exceeds 1,000,000 and who qulaifies for a home office deduction. The only mortgage debt the taxxpayer has is on the home with the home office. Based on pubs 936 and 587 it appears that I have to determine the reduced mortgage interest deduction for purposes of 8829. I thought perhaps, that for the home office deduction, the full amount of the interest would be allowed as it can be argued that it is business interest. Thanks in advance.
