| I had this ask of me several years ago by a client. Of course the question came up during tax season. I did a quick research and found nothing. So..............
I documented in my WP: registered with the state department of motor vehicles (so are boats, but let us not go there), is a "vehicle" used for transportation, is licensed, is insured. I used the standard milage rate for vehicles.

| N,
I can't remember the cite but if I remember correctly, standard mileage rates DO NOT apply to motorcyles...only passenger vehicles (4 wheels) and thus, actual expenses must be used. However, the luxury auto limits would not apply to motorcyles and in fact, the entire cost could be ยง179'd if the other rules are met. When I find the authority, I come back and post it.
