| I am the Controller for a transportation company that is located 3 hours (205 miles) from my home. I travel Monday mornings to the office, stay in the city Monday and Tuesday nights, and return home Wednesday afternoons. I work from home all day Thursday and Friday. I am classified as an employee.
This mileage adds up to 21,320 miles per year, and I would like to be able to deduct something on my tax return if possible. Would this be deductible? If so, on which area of my 1040? I looked through all the forums but couldn't find anyone that travels this far. Thanks for any help! | |

| Do some research on "tax home." Generally it is where you earn your living, not where you lay your head. You have 21,000 commuting miles, and the IRS doesn't care. | |

| and Red, if you're asking where employee expenses are deducted, you are not a tax professional and should seek one out to help you prepare your returns. | |

| Blrcpa - I would still consider this commuting mileage and not deductible. Why do you think otherwise? | |

| I think Barbara was thinking of the moving expense deduction .... | |
