| I have a client whose 14 yr old was referred to a therapeutic program by his family physician and therapist. He attended the program during the summer. The program was recommended because of his worsening behavioral/oppositional symptoms. I'm guessing there is some kind of mental disorder based on the meds he's on. So my question is this - it is deductible? Looks like he also earned educational credits while at the facility so would a portion be deductible? Would I have to find out how much of the tuition is for schooling and what amount is for psychological treatment? Thanks. | |

| Check Pub 502...treatment should be deductible, especially if there's drug/alcohol abuse involved. Hopefully the school can/will give you a breakdown. | |
