Hello everyone ...

I’d like to make a special offer to experts who are willing to share their expertise and knowledge with others who are new to the tax preparation industry.

As a member of this forum, I know that many of you contribute your ideas and advice freely. I’d like to offer you a chance to benefit from your generosity.

I am the owner of Accelerated Education Systems, a company that trains new tax preparers through our online tax education courses. We specialize in the 60-hour qualifying education course required to become a tax preparer in California.

As our students complete our courses, they have a lot of questions about how to get started in the tax business, what their next steps are, etc. I would like to develop a series of products that guide these new practitioners toward a successful career in the field.

So here’s where you come in. I would like to produce a series of audio interviews and panel discussions where industry experts like you provide advice and guidance to new practitioners. I know I’ve benefited from the exchange of ideas on this forum, and I know my students would benefit from your expertise as well.

Here’s just a brief look at some of the topics I’d like to be included:

  • Getting Started as a Tax Professional (Discussion of career paths, training, selecting software, setting up an office, etc.)
  • How to Develop New Business (Advertising, referral marketing, networking)
  • Pricing Strategies (How to price your services, how much to charge)
  • Exit Strategies (Know your goal and how you will eventually retire from or sell your practice)
  • Emerging Issues (Making your office more green, How to sell your services in a recession economy)

As you can see, there are a lot of different areas we can talk about.

Here’s how it works … I will schedule a 1-hour interview with 1 to 3 experts in a particular topic (marketing your tax practice by using referrals, for example). I will write a series of questions to help facilitate the discussion. Participants will receive the questions in advance and will have the opportunity to provide input to help shape the discussion.

I will provide a telephone conference call-in number at a conveniently scheduled time. (Don’t worry … I’m thinking AFTER tax season and over the next few months.)

As an expert, all you have to do is call in and participate in the discussion for an hour. That’s it!

So, why would YOU want to participate in one or more of these discussions?

I am interested in creating an informational product that will be promoted and sold over the next three to five years.

Here’s what I will offer you in exchange for your time …

Each participant will receive a copy of the recorded discussion (mp3 format) and a transcript (MS Word format). You can do anything you would like with these materials. You will be free to give them away, sell them, or turn them into any kind of product you’d like. There are also no limits to how much you can sell them for. (For those who participate in more than one call, you can also bundle these products together for added value.)

(Note: There is no cost to you to receive these materials. I will have them produced and transcribed at my own cost.)

As an expert, you can promote your products or services DURING the call. You can promote a book, website, consulting services, or anything else that you’d like. We’ll even make links to your website live in the transcript.

Your biography and photo will be included in the transcript.

You can provide “advertising copy” to be included in the Resource section of the transcript.

Your name will be included and you will be identified as an expert in all of my sales and promotional copy.

As you can see, by participating in these short discussion, you will have an opportunity to promote you, your brand, and your products.

If you’d like to participate in one or more calls, please send me an email or leave me a note. We can discuss the areas of your expertise and what you feel comfortable talking about. Of course, I’d be happy to incorporate your thoughts and questions into the discussion.
