| So-
I have a client that used to do her own payroll. When I was doing the W-2's I saw that she withheld more Social Security and Medicare then what was needed for one employee's paycheck. How do I remedy this? Do I raise his Gross Payroll, which will then cause him to pay taxes at the federal and state level or what?? Thanks in advance. Sasha | |

| I would adjust the excess FICA/Medicare and increase the FWT. | |

| Another approach would be to refund the excess to the employee. | |

| I am not sure if they are still in contact with the employee. I can ask them if they are. The last paycheck was in Feb. | |

| I don't know why I didn't think of just increasing the FWT! I guess just cause I have never dealt with this before and I am sure my client paid the incorrect tax amount in too! Thanks Uncle Sam. | |

| If both employer and employee paid the incorrect amounts, then you probably should do a 941c. For some corrections you need to have the employee's consent, so hopefully client can get in touch with him/her. | |
