A. Sonny and Cher were the headliner act at the grad party the year before I graduated from high school, that was 1965.

B. When my son was about 12, my mom gave him a record player (your remember those, they played music from a really big disc called a record). Just so he had some albums to listen to, we gave him a Cher album. He looked at us with total disdain, like we were crazy.

C. Did you notice that those sailors look to be about 20?

D. Who, other than Tina Turner and Cher, could where those costumes and still look that good (re-read item A)?

I really do enjoy the new sound they have created for Cher, though.

She really does have a great voice, doesn't she?

Natalie,

She sure does.

What people seem to forget is Sonny really made her. Without his connections in the record business, she would have had a more difficult track to get to where she wound up. I think she would have made it, it just would have been more of a challenge. Remember, he worked for Phil Spector.

Action, the headliner act? Not bad. We can't claim that here. We can only say Kathie Lee Gifford went to my high school. Big whoop. Also, your right, who other than Tina Turner or Cher could where those costumes and look that good? I don't have a clue.

Pam and I did a lip synch to "I've Got You, Babe" at the Writing.com convention in Baltimore of 2002, and we brought down the house, partly because there are times I am a dead ringer for Sonny. In fact, one center city Philly street person used to yell "Sonny Bono" as I would walk toward him....

Tom, I grew up in the LA area, Long Beach actually. I think it was easier to get acts like that and besides, the city fathers wanted to corral us all in a very expensive arena they built even though all the other schools were going to Disneyland. They had to give us something. BTW, at that time Sonny and Cher were still up and coming and not fully there yet. They apparently arrived in a beat up Corvair and were almost turned away. My friend's boy friend was in that graduating class so she went to the party. The next year we had the Lovin' Spoonful, the next year I'm not sure who they had, but the entire class pretty much boycotted the party, bankrupted it, and the class of 68 got to go to Disneyland. When I say "class", I mean six high schools combined, that's a large number of kids.
