I am filing an amended return for 2008 to claim the first time homebuyer tax credit. Is there any way to have the refund directly deposited into the taxpayer's bank account? There is no where to request it on the 1040X, but the client is telling me that he read it can be done.

Then the client should show you (and the rest of us) how to do it. They apparently know more than we do. -- Larry Hess, CPA | Albuquerque, NM

I agree with Larry. To my knowledge amended returns do not qualify for direct deposit.

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Turns out the realtor told them this. Love it when realtors give tax advice and the client wants to believe them over their CPA.
