| Client lives in area declared disaster due to flooding which occurred 9/13/08. She received no insurance reimbursement due to the fact that she had received reimbursement the previous year for flood damage. While I know the rules regarding how to fill out the form 4684, I can find no information regarding if the installation of a flood control system can be included in the cost of repairs. This is what FEMA told my client. Does anyone have any experience in this and can point me to some related literature. I am not finding any specifics, but my intuition tells me that since this system did not exist before it not deductible because it is not being "replaced", and was only installed to prevent future damage.
