| Thank you in advance for your help.
My sister and her husband who will claim their son (20 years old - full time college student) as a dependent on their return. My nephew worked part time in '07 earning about $1,700. Since the parents AGI is higher than the threshold for claiming the Hope or Life Time Credit of $2,000 (their AGI was $150,000), will they be able to deduct the tuition they paid somewhere else on the return? or should the son file his own tax return and get a little bit of tax that he pay back? Again, thanks for your help. | |
