Can anyone explain to me why my computer speakers have recently begun to pickup up a radio station. It's very very faint. At first I really thought I was 'hearing voices'. When I heard music I thought maybe one of the kid's electronic gizmos was hiding in my office. Finally, last night I held my ear the computer speaker and found it to be the culprit.

What can I do to make it stop...aside from turn off the speakers? It's not noticeable during the day but in the wee hours of the night it drives me crazy.

The only things I can think of are unshielded speaker cables picking up a radio signal, you've get a program running making those noises, or your dosage of thorazine is too low.

Or you need to stop working in the wee hours...it's ONLY January....

Earplugs? I empathize(sp) - I like peace & quiet in the office.

If the music has a nice beat you can dance to it.

It sounds like some kind of radio interference. Or is it possible you're running some kind of radio program? I listen to the radio via the internet most of the day.

Un plug and replug the speakers. I have my bet that your speakers are REALLY OLD! =)

Too make matters worse, it's classical music. Not that I don't like classical music...but the sound and pitch of the violins seem to pierce the silence of my office sanctuary even at such a low volume almost inaudible volume.

This can't go on throughout the season. I need my "quiet".

My cell phone (as well as clients) interfers with my monitor. It'll squelch (word?) a split second before their phone rings....they think I'm psychic when I ask if they want to take that call.

Are the speakers wireless? And where are you? I ask because I monitor a scanner a lot (husband retired after 27 years with Fire Dept; small community; I like to know where the sirens are going) and periodically we get what's called skip, where transmissions from over a thousand miles away comes in on our frequencies. Maybe the radio ghosts will go away when the weather changes? Good luck.

I've got a client whose telephones occasionally pick up radio dispatch signals (like on a taxi cab). Suddenly we hear a very load man's voice right next to us. Scares us to death. Fortunately he's moving his office in March/April so this will hopefully go away.

Are your speakers by chance wireless?

Pegoo.... how did you know that? My 4 yr. old speakers have been picking up radio for the past year. I was hearing music, preaching, you name it. So I just need new speakers huh? My speakers are not wireless, but I should also add that they are not top of the line hardwire/ware. That may account for something.

A few months ago when I lived in a condo, I would use my wireless headset and pickup a phone conversation once in awhile from my neighbor downstairs. I assume she used a wireless phone or something. The conversations were rather boring and my speakers would just kick over to the conversation automatically. How scary is that? You may wanna try moving your speakers to a different area and see if that helps.

These speaskers aren't wireless. This problem started about a week or so ago. It's got to be the speakers though. My wife's computer is against the ajoining wall outside of my office and her speakers don't pick up the radio.

I also noticed that her's are totally silient. Mine always had a very very low static sound coming from them. I guess they just gave out. I'm going to get a new pair before the season starts. I can't stand 'hearing the voices'.

Wasn't his name Rod Sterling?

My facsimile is on my desk directly above where the computer tower is one of my speakers sits sideways on top of the tower

Occasionally I will hear "truckers" on their CBs as they drive past my office which is on busy Hwy 101...it never lasts more than a couple seconds as it fades as they drive past

I always assumed it was coming from my facsimile/phone ..the speaker phone...

Now I realize it must be coming through the computer speaker...same proximity

Anyway when I thought it was the phone, It was a bit unnerving...in that I wondered if i can hear them can they hear me?

One paranoid client thought my office was "bugged"

I always thought

AARRRGGGHH!!!!

Aside from the dreaded screech of the violin, there is an even more insidious instrument emanating from these damn speakers at an almost inaubile level. Just audible enough to drift into my consciousness and pierce my comfortable veil of silence.

Can you guess what wonder instrument is now being featured of the radio inference signal from hell?

If you guessed BAGPIPES - you are the winner. Someone please make it stop!!!!!
