| I got 2 e-file rejections for almost the same reasons today. I have 2 noncustodial ex-husbands who claimed the credit for Child Care expenses. The real tough one is that one ex husband claimed child care expenses he paid in 2008 for expenses he incurred in 2006 when he was still married. He claims his accountantant told him he could get the credit for 2008. The child was not a qualifying person as she did not live with her father for more than 6 months. My client had legitimate child care expenses in 2008 so she could work but the IRS rejected her return because the child was claimed on another return for the credit. Does anyone have a solution or suggestion? | |

| The only solution is to file on paper. Repeated e-files will continue to reject. The IRS will eventually inquire of both spouses to determine which return should have the CDCC.
Next year - file first and file early. It's always the second return that rejects. | |

| Agreed with file paper returns. The IRS will have to sort out who is entitled to what. | |
