I have a client that gives more than 1/2 of support to two brothers that live in mexico. He claims he has proof he sends money to them. Does the brothers qualify for the child tax credit? They are both under 17.

I wasn't sure if they don't meet the residency test that they qualify for the child tax credit

Did the brothers live WITH the your client for at least 6 months?

No. They may qualify as dependents, but must be citizens or residents of the US to qualify for the child tax credit.

Allright, that is what I thought, I will just double check about living with him during the year.
