Well...Sandy (helper of mankind) is what my name means.

I can't believe that one of "us" has scammed me. I gave this person work....offered to assist and give some insight into work that I did not have time for all of it.

Now...client is going to completely go with this other.....and this other is willing to accept it when I worked for hours trying to assist.

Time to cry and find out that not all people are "nice" or "kind" or "ethical"....

perhaps have a discussion with that other accountant about 'what is right and what is fair' since the client was yours and you only asked for limited help. Best case is probably only going to be a referral fee, but that is better than losing a client for nothing.

TY Kevin.

If I base my reputation on this, then I hope someday that I get what I deserve. Ethically, I stand behind what I say....thank you...there are still good people on this planet and on TA....

Nice to be busy....working on an audit and so much stuff that I work 7 days a week still, but sometimes you know whom you can count on. Your ethics shine through :)

Gee, Sandy. Did you have any kind of written agreement?

What goes around, comes around.

Yes, Natalie...engagement letter and it is lengthy due to being stiffed before. However, upon reviewing the tax files of my client and his situation (as well as withholding information that is crucial), I am writing a letter to client on my concerns and his need to thoroughly decide whether he wants to go through with an OIC....thank you friends :)

Just please know that be careful what you divulge to any other persons especially on TA or any other site. Could be your email and your clients could be hijacked as well.....

Hmmm. That's very discouraging. Sounds like we may need a Hall of Shame.

If you care to share who this was through backchannel email communication, please do.

This may come under the "Better late than never" category

We use a "Non-Circumvention Agreement" when outsourcing work to another firm that does similar work. It goes something like this.

underline textNon-Circumvention. Interested Party agrees not to solicit any relationship or enter into discussions directly with Masterfully and Exceptionally Superior Service for You (MESSY) client without prior written permission of [Supreme Commander], Manager of MESSY. No business venture or relationship shall be formed to do business with MESSY client or its owners which is not part of the specific engagement arrangement between MESSY and Interested Party.

Any circumvention as determined by the Circuit Court of MESSY's home county will be considered to be a sale of client account and with a purchase price of two times the annual billing of all engagements by client and client's related entities. Interest on the deemed sale will be at the rate of 2% per month.

HEHEHE I love it!!

But only 2% per month? Let's go for the gusto!! Lets do usury so that we can at least make it not worth their while to go up against the exceptionally superior service providers....hehehehehe

Thank you Peg....well what goes around comes around...my client actually adios(ed) the scammer so now I end up with the work (do I really want it?) and end up coming on top. Don't bite a hand that feeds you my cat used to say :)
