Hi,

Question: I studied for my EA exam last summer, and passed the exam last fall. I know the money I spent on the books is not deductible because it was a change in career. Then in September I took the H&R Block income tax course. The course will not count towards my EA CPE, but may I deduct it for federal CPE purposes?

Thanks,

Mike

I wanted to add to the above that since I had already studied and passed the EA exam, that the H&R Block course actually helped to improve my knowlege of federal taxation, which it certainly did, and therefore qualifies as CPE (for fed purposes) and not just education to switch careers.

Let me know how you all feel about this..

Thanks again,

Mike

Sure. Deduct it. Good luck in your new career.
