A terribly sad story. A body was found yesterday on Mt. Tam in Marin County, CA. That's just north of the Golden Gate Bridge for those of you not familiar with the area. While an ID has not yet been announced, the likelihood is that it is the remains of 25-year old IRS Special Agent Veronica Ruiz, who has been missing for about 6 weeks.

| That's so sad. These things seem to happen daily unfortunately. My prayers for her family.

| On Wednesday, the body was positively identified as that of Veronica Ruiz. She took her own life with her IRS service revolver. She was reportedly despondent over a recent breakup with her boyfriend. | |

| What a shame.
I didn't know that IRS agents were armed.

| Special Agents (Criminal Investigation) are armed. Revenue Agents, Revenue Officers are not. | |

| That's just a shame.
Sadly, I know how the family is feeling. 14 years ago this month, I lost a friend to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It's a very helpless feeling. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and her as well. Tom
