| Are High school education expenses deductible on a parents tax return? How/where are they deducted? The kid is only 16 but attending a parent funded school....similar to a boarding school. There are NO ESA's involved just monthly out of pocket expenses for tuition. Everything that I have searched for has linked me back to ESA's....PLEASE HELP!

| KendraR you should review what education expenses are deductable. The deductable expenses are for college expenses. See the requirements for Hope credit. The tuition deduction and education credits basically have the same requirements.

| I know what college expenses are deductible. I have reviewed all those. I am talking about high school. I cannot find anything that specifically refers to high school education expenses. I don't see why they wouldn't be deductible, but I am not sure where they are deductible.

| I personally don't see why all the costs associated with raising kids from start to launch are not deductible, but unfortunately, what I think doesn't matter. They're not deductible because Congress never made them deductible.

| KendraR I am sorry I wasn't plainer but what I was trying to point out is that high school expenses are not deductable or eligable for credits.

| Ok thank you. It makes no sense at all that there is not some kind of deduction or credit from age 13 to 19. Kind of a double edged sword because the gov is saying a child at 13 no longer needs to be watched after but if they get into trouble or hurt while you are working and they are home alone guess who's resposible!
