| FYI! The screaming headlines and main story in today's Newsday states that the IRS computers are old and not secure in this age of identity theft.

| They're not??! Well, that settles it. I'm not going to file until they get this problem fixed. I'm advising all my clients to do the same! :)

| NEWSDAY????? That liberal excuse for a newspaper. If it were in the NY POST NOW, THAT would be a story.

| That's old news. They were in the stone age back when a company I worked at was hired to help modernize them. Another story for another day....

| Tom, I'll bet everyone in the country who has been working in tech since the 70's either worked for a company that was hired to help modernize the IRS computer systems, knew someone who did, or knew someone who knew someone who did.

| There's probably some truth to that. The company I worked at came in during the mid-to-late 1980's. I would seriously doubt that any of the computers we installed are in use today, but it would not surprise me if in some back corner of Martinsburg one of our systems was still plugging away or even for that matter an IBM Selectric wasn't pulled out of mothballs.

| Barb CPA, why is this even news to you? The IRS computers have never been up to the level of the private sector?
