Have been a user of Quickbooks since 1993, have never seen such a mistake as the online banking for Qbooks 2009. They were asleep at the wheel on this one. I realize that this site is part of Intuit (the best Acctng/Tax Software in the world) but......wow what a mistake.

I use Qbooks for almost 100 clients most of which use the online banking module. Many, many bugs in this module. I have spoke with reps from the Intuit Presidents office regarding this, and all they can say is that after 2 updates on 09 the 3rd one in December may take issue on the errors.

Intuit if your are listening!!!!!!!!!!!!fire the individuals responsible for this debaucle it is hurting your company. GO TO GOOGLE AND TYPE "QUICKBOOKS 2009 ONLINE BANKING" you will see an amazing list of individuals that have updated their data to work on 09 and how upset they are. There were so many on your new blog site that you combined all the online banking complaints into one blog that now appears closed.

It took a week for your company (all be it they insisted twice a 4 hour turn around in a return call) to call me back. I spoke with an individual on the phone that said they were apart of that module planning. They said they made many improvements, but could only come up with ONE! that was the cosemetic appearence of the module. They were not aware of the many issues regarding online banking and played stupid to most of what I was offering as insight. I mentioned to them that I would jump on a plane and pay for my flight to Mountain View to speak at a round table with the concerns of thousands already, at any given notice. They notated.

Please dont make the mistake that I did and load this 2009 on your system. Too many issues with it to name now, just go on Google. I have many clients that have 50-100 items download from their bank at one time, many vendors that the bank pays, have number identifiers after their names, quickbooks no longer recoqnizes that (fedex for example charges) and one at a time entries that use to take about 10 seconds for multiple entries now take about a half hour. THATS AN IMPROVEMENT?

In closing, if I were the President of Intuit I would have a meeting with the Online Banking Module Orginizers, and the first question I would ask them is.....Show me the differences and improvements between 2008 and 2009. Many would be out of a job real soon

Get it back together Intuit, your Company has made me quite successful in the business I love and enjoy, thanks to the software your company provides to the world today, but PLEASE look into this!

Mark, thanks for the warning, but I doubt that Intuit will read this here. Make your comment directly to them if you want them to get it.

Talcott, that is exactly why I wait to start using software -- any software. I let everyone else work out the bugs. And I make that recommendation to my clients as well. Intuit sent me a survey about the 2009 program, and I simply told them that I would start using it early next year.

I just got my free trial version in the mail yesterday but I will wait to install per Mark Talcott's recommendation.

Mark, thanks for the warning. I was this close to upgrading to QB 2009.

Per your suggestion, I googled the discussions and will now either wait or go to QB 2008.

Belle, are you upgrading from 2007? If so, how is the space on your computer? The new programs, starting with 2006, take up a huge amount of space. If you keep multiple years on your computer, you might want to consider just waiting to install 2009.

Space is fine - I always buy huge hard drives as it's so cheap and yes, the programs just keep getting larger. I do run multiple years....some clients can't wait to get the newest version; some have to be yanked - yelling & screaming - into new versions.

I think waiting is the best way to go until things settle a bit. I have no need to be on the cutting edge; let someone else deal with the bugs.

I fail to see any improvement in most of the software I use as each new version comes out.

It's like a lot of websites I check out, the "prettier" they get, the more "features" they offer, the slower and more useless they become.

I think it would be revolutionary if some of these software companies would promise to make no "improvements" at all for, say, five years. I'd pay at least something for peace and quiet, and the chance to save wasted hours adjusting to new "features".

You have a good point, Crow. It seems every few years there are major changes. A lot of the changes year to year seem to be cosmetic and sometimes bothersome because one needs to relearn where certain things are.

Very good points all around, Crow and Natalie.

The worst offender of this genre, in my humble opinion was Norton Utilities. When Peter Norton developed it, it was truly a wonderful program. I can't tell you how many times I used it to help friends and family. When Symantec took it over, they added to it and now it's a bloated piece of junk.

I can't remember the other program I liked, but it worked really well until they started adding items like an address book, calendar (which were unnecessary) and I stopped using it. I have no clue why they bothered when Outlook and other programs were readily available that did the same thing.

I haven't loaded QB 2009 yet, heck, I barely have used 2008. I am not jumping up and down to change.

What I would really prefer is software makers stabilize their new releases, wait and then issue an upgrade. Oh, silly me, then they don't make money year after year charging us inflated prices and inflicting emotional distress on us users. I am beginning to wonder if they don't have a deal with the psychiatric and pharmaceutical community to issue these upgrades to drive us all to see a doctor to stick us on Prozac.

Just my $.02.

Tom
