I have made the hard decision to be less politically correct that Toa to show these young scofflaws what can happen when you start skirting on your homework. First, start by reading about my bad experiences at Dunkin Donuts and Enron below at "Boris". Do you want this to happen to you? Well, I was just such a young prevaricater at your age! Don't skimp on your work, if you do, you're a hooligan, like me. Well, not exactly like me, but you know what I mean: somehow my clients have managed to forgive me. Let's say that you should take me as an example all right, but as an example of what not to do!

When I got put on the Enron account, I told them I did not pay attention in school! What was their response? "You are just the man we want! GAAP, SCHMAAP! Go bill some hours!" Fateful words.

So, lesson learned, do your lessons. We know exactly when you try to slip a question by on us, and we have our ways of contacting your professor! These are secret but it has something to do with the National Security Agency. I can't say more at present.

Discussion:Accounting question, starting out in case anyone didn't see it the first time

EEEEK. I'm being cross referenced.

but I did it with a smile, not quite as cross as I usually am

Oh my goodness, this is terrible!

I was just contemplating posting my daughter's 4th grade math homework questions on here. Seriously, have you seen the way they do multiplication/addition/division/subtraction these days? Thought maybe it would be easier to post on here than look at the reference book they give us at the start of the year (which I have had to use).

Crow, I think we all would like people to learn from our mistakes. In many ways that would be less painful for all involved. However, human nature is such that most people have to make the same mistakes we did to learn the lessons.

Pierce, just look at this as an opportunity to learn something new. My son learned about Dr. Division, Mr. Multiplication, Portly Plus and Mabel Minus. I really enjoyed the story about how Mabel would walk down the road losing all of her numbers and Portly Plus was right on her trail picking them up.

Thanks Natalie!

On a related note, I am thankful tonight we don't have homework! Have not seen the Math Guys show up here, but they seem like fun. Is this a book or a method?

By the way, do you know of an easy, cheap loan amortization program? Have been using an old version of TValue (dos). Does (or did) the job great. A couple of years ago I upgraded my printer, and it would not print reports anymore. Worked around by saving to a Word or Excel file and printing from there. Today, suddenly, when I use this method the file is exported in Arabic or code or something strange.

Had thought one of my other programs would do amortization, but I can't find it right now.

I am probably just not being real sharp right now, and will look for a solution in the morning.

Thank you Kevin, Natalie, Pierce, Fenner, Smith & Barney!

Young Pierce, step to. Here's a dandy program at http://www.dinkytown.com

Bottom Line, I'm trying to get you fitted into the firm masthead up there after you posted, but I think us two should form a new firm with my new acquaintence Mr. Suckes: Bottom Line Crow Jd Suckes, LLC. as the name will do, if all approve.

Okay Crow, who's this acquaintance? I did a search, and it only comes up on this discussion. Actually, I'm pretty sure the name wouldn't fly in Hawaii, but then we have a lot of restrictions on things like names of professional firms.

Pierce, the school my boys go to uses stories and songs for a lot of lessons. It is really neat and makes learning easier.

Glad I'm not the only one confused.

Natalie, Mr. Suckes is a regular churchgoer, who has never been out of balance. But, everyone sez I s*ck, so what can I do? lol. "Crow, another company went down in flames, you s*ck!" So I blame it on Mr. Suckes.

I suspect he hangs around with Mable Minus.

Thank you to all! Maybe I don't get out much, but this is FUN!

Bottom Line - Thank you! Checked it out and will play with it more later!

Crow - Very nice link and if you can help me change my name to YoungPierce I will do so. (Have reached the age where I tip bartenders better if they card me.) Do you really do snakes at church?

Natalie - Your school sounds great. One of your blessings!

Bottom Line, don't be confused with my silliness. It goes like this..."What do you think of that CrowJD"? "Oh, him! Well, bottom line CrowJD sucks." They can be cruel at the watercooler!

Dinkytown is great! I use my fingers Pierce. But one of my Chinese collegues sent me an abacus for Chinese New Year. Wonderful.

By the way, if anybody is interested, I'm doing a CPE this fall sponsored FASB. It's called "A Day Devoted to FIN 48". My topic is "Pulling Numbers from Thin Air" of which I am a recognized expert. 12 hours, if you need it.

Dear Mr. Crow,

Do you, or do you not, do snakes at church on Wed. nights?

Thank you,

YoungPierce

When we can find them, I do! When the local snakes hear us start singing, they take off for the woods. For instance, you can't find the mayor, the sheriff, or any elected official within 10 miles of Piney Grove Free Thought Baptist once the spirit starts moving us.

Crow, I have a couple of clients who might be interested in your class. They think accounting is all "magic" anyway.

BL, I'm beginning to think they have something funny in their water down south.

Oh Natalie, we definitely do!! And you have to be at least third generation to understand it. One of my favorite things is "He NEEDED killin'." Up until just the last few years, this was a legitimate defense (and in my opinion in some cases still is).
