| Form 1099-B states whether they are a long or short. Must I find out the purchase date for Schedule D or can this be blank since I know that its long or short? Proseries does not give an error if I do not put in dates, but I'm concerned the IRS does not approve of no dates.

| "Various" works fine. I'm not positive, but I also think that if you left it blank that would be okay. I usually just use "Various" though...

| I use Lacerte. I left both date acquired and date sold blank and was able to successfully validate the return for e-filing. So, perhaps a blank date field will work. ~~

| ProSeries Pro requires "various" in the purchase date field (or the actual date purchased), and it requires the date sold in the date sold field (can't use "various"). I can't efile unless both of these fields are filled in.
