| I have been wondering who Riley2 is for almost 2 years. This man/woman has the most absolute knowledge of tax law ever. We should all stand up and applaude his/her knowledge. I believe, however, that Riley2 is a woman. The careful crafting of Riley2's answers are concise, perfect and nov-abraisive. (well, except for some Don Rickle answers from time to time). Please vote with me. Male or Female? | |

| Riley2 is married to an a lady attorney, if I am not wrong. | |

| I believe Roy is correct.
I did some research, I believe I found out who he is based on some information he left here. But since he wishes to protect his privacy, I respect his decision and keep what I found out to myself. However, I concur with your overall sentiment. He is a true gem and has helped me become better at what I do as well as many here. Tom

| As I have gone out teaching for the past several years, several people have come up to me and introduced themselves as their TA alter-ego. I will also respect their wishes to protect their privacy. | |

| I think I've figured out where he/she practices. But I agree that the desire for privacy should be honored.
In many ways, that's what makes this board work so well.

| I, on the other hand, believe a poster to these forums, should freely give up their privacy as to there credentials.
Kevin5, D&T, Taocpa, and many others, have done so.

| No, he's not. But it matters not. He's the best, and we're right to merely appreciate his being here and leave it at that. | |

| Actually JR1, Riley2, from what I gathered, is a CPA. He lists it as a credential and has indicated as such in some postings he made some time ago. I take him at his word.
But, whether or not, you are correct, he is the best. That said, I do agree with Roy that if you do have a credential, you should list it. That does not mean though those without credentials are not outstanding contributors, Jeff. You know who and what I am talking about. Tom

| You'd have come closer to finding Deepthroat in the old days than you would to find Riley. Some say he's a reporter for a New York newspaper. Some claim to have met him while on duty in Vietnam. Graham Greene and John Le Carre have written about him.
Last year, a homeless man was found camped out by the dumpster at CCH Headquarters. Newspapers headlined that Riley had been found at last! He was reported to be a clerk for one of the Justices of the Supreme Court, and a hairdresser in Slidell, LA. Firefighters in Compton, CA, were called just last month to cite a resident who had papered his entire home with disgarded IRC Regs., Code Sections, General Counsel's decisions, and other such detritus of the legal calling. It was rumored that the person cited was one "Riley". (Last name withheld to protect the innocent). My guess, and it's just a guess, is that Riley is actually female; and a guest of Hugh Hefner at the Playboy mansion. One thing we do know for sure: had an equivalent amount of brain power been put to solving some of the great problems and mysteries that mankind now faces, why, I have no question that we'd be having lunch on Mars or even Pluto today, rather than having such a great brain broken like a great wave over the stale, and ultimately impenetrable rock we refer to as the IRC.

| that frozen Bigfoot in Georgia turned out to be a spoof. Perhaps Riley2 doesn't exist either. Just someone from the research dept at Intuit that Tim Doyle conned into adding 'content' to TA to make it appear legitimate in order to attract the rest of us here. | |

| I believe in listing the credentials for two reasons;
1. It proves that people can be knowledgeable, professional, without, necessarily have the all the credentials that are available. 2. In proves that people can be unknowledgeable, unprofessional, with, some or all the credentials that are available.

| Roy has the wisdom of age, even though he's still a young pup. That's why I agree with him.
Jeff, by the way, you are on of those I refer to as very knowledgeable. You have what they call "street cred". Tom

| I think that the real question is:
Who is Riley8? An evil twin perhaps?
| 15 November 2008 | |
| For some reason, I imagine Riley sitting at one of these great circular desks, with any scrap of the law concerning the IRC at his fingertips, and well flipped through. | |

| Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain...
I am Riley2, the great and powerful! I am AEM CPA, the small and meek.

| Crow, Riley would need as many hands as Pilot on Farscape to flip through the resources as fast as he seems to remember them. | |
