Hi, does anyone have any suggestions about filing an amended return without having a copy of the original return?

p.s. The CPA Exam really made my physically sick so I decided not to screw with it at this time being that I'm covered up in tax and music work, thanks for all the well-wishes, but they've gotten enough of my hard-earned money. I'm considering an MBA with an emphasis in taxation.

you need the original figures to do an amended. Have client go to local IRS office and get a transcript, or to preparer for a copy of the return. The federal information will not have the state tax that was withheld. If you have a signed power of attorney you can go to e-services and get what you need immediately. taxea

I'm glad you said MBA, that will give you more career options. Many of us think the VAT (Value Added Tax), and Flat Tax will commence during our liftimes.

But you gotta know that if they don't make the flat tax a sales tax our clients will still need us to fill out the simple little form that says you made this much, tax on this much is this much so you owe this much. taxea

A transcript may or may not have enough detail for an amended return. You can use a 4506 to request an actual copy of the return.

get PoA signed and then call Practioner's Hotline 1.866.860.4259

you should be able to get a line item w/o the $39 charge, ask the practioner for transcripts (1099's, w-2, 1098, etc.) Drawing a blank on the reeference (ERP reports?)
