Can an S-corp buy an airplane (shareholder has pilot license) as a transportation vehicle as he travels quite often, and write it off as business expense? If so, can he section 179?

Yes. However, you need to watch the brand-new 274 rules that basically limit the deduction attributable to personal use to almost nothing (even if the employee is reporting the personal use as income).
