My son and daughter recieved as a gift a bond which they needed to cash in. They did that but now on the there tax forms we were asked what the Original ownwers cost was. We have no idea. Any ideas what we should put down? It cashed out at $4000.00 They have had it in there names since 1991.

you need to ask the donor what their basis was. What type of 'bond' was this?
