I sold a house in 2005...an investment property. Isn't someone supposed to be providing me with a 1099-S? Would it be the buyer's attorney, since he was the closing agent? Do I attach a copy of the 1099-S to my Schedule D? Thanks.

You don't need a 1099-S to file your returns. Your escrow closing statement should have all of the information you need. Don't attach a copy of any 1099s, W-2s, or 1099-Rs unless you are filing a paper return and there is withholding on the 1099 or W-2. If there is Fed withholding, file a copy with the Fed return. If there is state withholding, file a copy with the state return. If withholding for both, attach a copy to both. If neither, attach a copy to neither.
