| Not sure if I'm imagining this, but I seem to recall that a baby born on the first day of the year qualifies as a deduction/exemmption for the previous year? Anybody know if this is true?

| What is true is that someone who was born on, for example, 1/1/89, is considered to be 19 for purposes of the 2008 1040. This is because he has completed 19 full years of life.

| Yes, but that same child will be treated as attaining age 65 on the day before his 65th birthday (for purposes of the standard deduction).

| I bet he can't wait to get to middle age - that 65 year old child

| If there is a standard deduction (or a 1040) in 2053, that is.
