| A retired old fart who hates paying quarterly asked what flat percent to withhold from his 5-6 retirement accounts so he did not have to do so. This was in early March; today I get an email:
"I have received confirmation from all parties that they will withhold federal taxes. However, I negelected to make any arrangements for the PA taxes. So my question is should I make arrangements to withhold PA taxes and if so at what rate?" I respond: "Pensions are not taxable for Pennsylvania...." I am trying to attach a pdf extension to an email as I am finishing printing the 8 states for this baseball trainer. The printer is on fire almost. Then the phone rings. "Talk to me." "David, we've been going back and forth on line about my Pennsylvania estimated taxes." In my best dialect, "So sorry, you reach wrong number, this is Too Much Wok's Peking Duck House." What am I gong to do after tax season? Shoot some of these frickin clients.

| D&T, I always get a kick out of your stories. I have come to find that some people ask a question, but they don't listen. They have already come up with an answer in their head before even asking the question. Quick thinking on your part. Priceless. | |

| Is there a correlation to stupid moves and filing dates???? Just finished a new client. Refund would have been over 7K between fed and state due to EIC and MN WFC. She went to the casino with her family once a month and every month, someone would win and they would always have her put it in her name since she has the least income. Total winnings came to $34K. She doesn't even itemize otherwise - no house. Her net refund came out to about $700. How sad. | |

| D&T you do so have a way with words -- verbal as well as written! You realize, don't you, that after you retire, you're still going to have to post here? | |

| Ww reminds me of the client who had big gambling winnings and equal losses to offset, but bye bye Stimulus check because W-2G increased AGI, and losses only deductible on Schedule A. | |

| WW does she have losses enough to itemize? or will her family that thought up this lovely tax strategy help her out? | |

| She did - to the tune of $30K. And $1400 in non-cash contributions, until I told her she needs receipts - then it went down to $450. At first she didn't think they would help out, but she called back and said her mom was willing to split it with her. I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to this whole story than what I know, and I'm also pretty sure I don't want to know any more. This is one new client I'm not thrilled to have. She went to H&R, but their fee is over three times what ours is, so we've got her for now. What the h**l is she doing at the casino with 3 kids, a disabled husband with back child support, and 20K in income? We should have discussion titled Stupid Client Tricks, but the sad thing is, none of us would be surprised since there doesn't seem to be any shortage of stupid moves out there. | |

| Nancy: Farfel passed away in February 2007 from bone cancer in a leg at almost 13. The business still bears the name: Death & Taxes Inc. dba Farfel Associates and next to my EA Enrollment Certificate is her Diploma from Upsanddowns Dog Training School....the ink writing has faded but it was Dec 1994. People write their checks to Farfel Associates. I guess I was her associate.
A client out on Long Island is trying to hook me up with a 2 year old Airedale....maybe after tax season.
